PODER (Positive Outcomes Delivered through Education and Respect)is a 21st Century Community Learning Center funded by the Illinois State Board of Education as a part of the No Child Left Behind Act.  PODER currently operates as an after school program that promotes academic and social enrichment to students in low-income Title 1 schools who are of the greatest need.

PODER~SER is an Illinois State Board of Education Supplemental Education Services after school tutoring program serving five Chicago Public Schools for the 2010-2011 academic year.  Armed with a complete supplemental curriculum kit, our Learning Facilitators provide extra instruction outside of the normal school day, assisting students in taking control of their education.

Project Onward is a supplemental academic service program that address through the challenging needs of in and out of school youth who are gang affiliated and court involved living in the Archer Heights community.  This program takes a holistic approach to academic enrichment and youth development. Each participant receives comprehensive academic services that include both traditional and innovative approaches.  In addition to classroom instruction, this program implements alternative learning methods such as peer led instruction and education through field trips and community service projects.

The YRCCC (Youth Ready Chicago Community Council) brings community and faith based organizations, libraries, park districts, schools, and public officials together on a monthly basis to analyze the needs in Region IV.   The YRCCC provides professional development to council members and these organizations along with providing referrals for community members.

YRC CDC (Youth Ready Chicago Career Development Center) Region IV provides youth and young adults ages 14-24 with the tools necessary to find a job, obtain a job, and keep a job.  Collaboration with a wide range of schools, libraries, park districts, and community and faith-based organizations in Region 4 allow us to reach youth, and provide them with career development activities, employment opportunities, and internships.

The GI (Gang Intervention) Program works with children who are gang affiliated along with families to provide awareness, prevention, and intervention of gang affiliation.  GI provides the following services:

  • Educational services such as GED classes and tutoring
  • Life skills workshops such as conflict resolution and anger management
  • Employment services such as Career Development Training and job placement
  • Leadership Development Training, and community service
  • Supportive services such as transportation
  • Monetary assistance for tattoo removals

SER también a empleado a un Instructor bilingüe de computación, qué enseña en los niveles básico e intermedio en la computación. Estas son algunas de las clases qué ofrecemos; Microsoft Excel®, Word®, PowerPoint®, Publisher®, Teclado/Keyboarding, Navegar el Internet, Búsqueda de Empleo por el Internet, y Creación de Curriculums, Introducción a HTML como también Uso de Correo Electronico entre otras clases. La finalización de éstos cursos hace al buscador de empleo mas vendible.

SER’s CTC (Community Technology Center) is a neighborhood-based center hat offers any community resident with access to computers and high-speed internet, especially to help aid residents in job search activities. SER also employs a bilingual computer instructor who teaches both basic and intermediate level computer classes that include the following: Microsoft Excel®, Word®, PowerPoint®, Publisher® Keyboarding, Navigating the Internet, Online Job Search Skills, and Resume Creation, Introduction to HTML and Introduction to E-Mail as well among other classes.  Completion of these courses makes the job sneaker more marketable.
